Combing is the only way to make "tops" for worsted spinning. Commercial top is combed in the factory. Combing lines up the fibers in a parallel formation AND gets rid of the short fibers. Carding leaves in the short fibers and only semi-lines them up. To get very smooth yarn you have to use combed top!
I've never considered buying or combing fleece before. Maybe the You Tube videos will inspire me.
